To protect the citizens’ investment in public infrastructure, Perkins Township may require a permit application for the following activities within public rights of way:
- Excavation for private utilities, including drainage taps
- Excavation within the street or right of way for installation of private or semi-private utilities: phone, cable, electric, etc.
- Driveway construction or replacement (contact the Public Works Department for details on when a permit is needed)
The primary focus of the permit is to inform the Township of installation and/or replacement, in order to provide information for future reference as projects are planned, and to protect the investment of the landowner and township.
The permit applications can be accessed here, or by contacting the Public Works Department at 419-609-1433. Both the right of way and driveway permits have a $50.00 processing fee. The drainage tap fee is $150.00.
Landowners and contractors are encouraged to contact us early in the planning process to help determine any conflicts that may exist, permit requirements, and to discuss the process. We look forward to working with you on your projects.
