Vincent G. Donald, 48, residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 23, 2022 at Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Vince was born on February 4, 1974 in Sandusky, OH to the late Frank L. and Sadie M. (Ray) Donald.
Vince began his Perkins Township Police Department law enforcement career in 1994 as Auxiliary Officer and in 1996 became a full-time law enforcement officer. In 2002 he was promoted to Sergeant; 2011 promoted to Lieutenant; 2017 Assistant Chief and in 2020 was promoted to Chief of Police. During his 26 years policing, Vince attended many training sessions, one being the Public Service Leadership Academy (PLSA), a 13-week course through John Glenn College of Public Affairs. Another was the Police Executive Leadership College (PELC), a 3-week executive leadership training program. Most recently, in May 2022, Vince completed the FBI’s National Command Course in Stanford, VA. Vince was also assigned to the Erie County Drug Task Force from 1998-2004 and the Toledo Division of the DEA from 2004-2008. He thoroughly enjoyed his police work and representing the Perkins Police Department in any and all community activities.
Vince graduated from Sandusky High School in 1992. He enjoyed his bowling, softball, Dart’s League and going out to socialize. Vince was a huge Buckeyes and Browns fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Vince is survived by his longtime girlfriend, Amanda Adler; daughter, Jaiden Borzon; sisters, Vanessa Curtis of Dayton, Cecelia Ferguson of GA, Annette Alexander of Sandusky, Gwendolyn D. (Marcus Clarke) Ray of Prattville, AL and Sharon Ray of Sandusky; brothers, Michael Donald Sr. of Sandusky, Darnell Donald of Sandusky, Tyrone Donald of New Orleans and Gregory Ray of Lima, OH; aunts Pearlie Manuel of Chatom, AL, Marilyn (Roscoe) Gaston of Chatom, AL, Boria Harris of Houston, TX, Christine Jackson of Waynesboro, MS along with several other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Vince is preceded in death by his brothers, Frank Donald Jr. and Herbert Hill, and grandmother, Arguster McNeal.
Friends may call on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm at The Chapel, 4444 Galloway Rd, Sandusky. The FOP Lake Erie Lodge #17 will conduct fraternal services Wednesday evening. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 11:00 am. Pastor John Adams will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
